Greek coins

1 Drachma 1954 Greece1 Drachma 1954 Greece

34,000.00 US$

Grade: NGC MS 65
KM-Pn67. King Paul I (1947-1964). A Commemorative issue of the circulating coinage struck in Gold and Proof finish. Only ten sets were issued (comprising of 4 coins 5,2,1 and 1/2 Drachmas) in a Green plush case. The obverse bears the Head of Paul I with “B.ΦΑΛΗΡΕΑΣ” (engraver) under and the word “ΑΝΑΜΝΗΣΤΙΚΟΝ” (Greek for Commemorative) below. The reverse bears the Greek Arms with supporters each side, denomination below. The sets were struck in Paris and bear the Paris privy mint marks (reverse left and right of 1 ΔΡΑΧΜH &in exergue). Interestingly NGC has mispelled the word as “ΑΝΑΜΝΗΕΤΙΚΟΝ” replacing Σ with E (obviously in a “copy paste” action from KM where it is mispelled). As these are Specimens or Proofs they should have technically graded SP or PF. Nevertheless it grades MS65 NGC.
